Clay County Library News

25 May 2017

The Clay County Library Summer Reading Program is about to begin!  Story time at the library will begin on June 8 at 2:00, with special events planned on June 30, when Safari Greg will be here at 2:00, and July 26, when the Science Guy will be here at 2:30.

Also this year, there will be a statewide reading contest for our young readers, with the top 100 readers across the state will be invited to Nashville for dinner and an evening of festivities at the Tennessee Residence.  The First Lady’s Read to be Ready Summer Reading Competition is a free summer-long literacy challenge designed to motivate children to read more books and visit their local library over the summer break. Students may read with a family member, friend, or on their own and reading books with a wide variety of subject matter and reading levels is encouraged. Minutes can be self-tracked and self-reported by Friday, July 28 by turning the Reading Log Packet into your local public library.

The library has received several memorial donations recently.  Donation were made for Cecil Anderson, given by Dick Roberts, and Bill and Beth Moulton.  A donation was made for Kathy Westmoreland Jennings by Bill and Marie (Pat) Head.  A donation was made for Deortha McLerran by Dick Roberts.  Donations were made for Mary Emma Reneau, given by Jane, Kevin, and Wanda Donaldson, Bruce E.
