to Fish in any Season!

At Dale Hollow Lake it’s not about when you can catch fish, it’s more about when do you want to catch ‘em!

Get familiar with the season summaries below showing Dale Hollow is a year-round fishery!

SPRING

Springtime on Dale Hollow Lake means fish move shallow and it’s not just one species.  Bass pull up to spawn and can be targeted with various spring tactics, while walleye are caught at night while feeding on spawning minnows.  Crappie, panfish, and catfish are just a few more ripe for the taking in the spring.

SUMMER

Summertime fishing on Dale Hollow Lake is dominated by anglers taking to the lake after dark in search of bass, walleye, crappie, and more–but they can also be caught during the day by trolling, drop-shotting, or spooning.  Panfish continue to bed during the summer too, offering ample opportunities for fisherman of all ages.

FALL

Fall brings with it a wide array of active bites on Dale Hollow Lake, including the ongoing continuation of night fishing action as fish remain deep early in the season, before they make their move to shallower water as temps begin to moderate and the crankbait/football jig bites become some of the favorites.

WINTER

Wintertime fishing on Dale Hollow Lake has long been a favorite for anglers, as big pre-spawn smallmouth and other trophy fish begin to emerge.  With tailspinners, swimbaits, hair jigs, the float-n-fly, and much more, bass are targeted throughout the year’s coldest months and other species also await for arctic anglers.
